his is a rare sterling antique Italian silver Peruzzi necklace created sometime in the Victorian period between 1860-1910. Although not signed, I'm pretty confident this is Peruzzi. The clasp says sterling and is very faint- you can tell there were other words but have worn off with age. The clasp is closed and does not open. This could be replaced, but I didn't want to change the original. There are many interesting charms, the grotesque Roman masks on this long chain were used to scare away the bad spirits. Fleur de lis are a symbol of purity, strength, and leadership. The medieval horse was seen as an animal that symbolised wealth and status for the upper classes and nobility. I wish I knew the history of this piece and who wore it, it's very magical and intriguing. The silver chain links are made of a flower like symbol and create this magnificent 42 inch chain cheap. The total weight of the Sterling silver necklace is 1.5 ounces.
